The Outback town of Woomera, 500 kilometres to the north of South Australia's Capital city Adelaide, has played a critical role in the development of rocket and space science for Europe, Australia, America and the Western World generally, since the 1950's.
This 'look back' at Woomera features the music of Ian Bee (accompanied by his wife). Ian is a Woomera boy through and through, having spent his formative years there. The images of Woomera are provided by (or sourced by) Russ Ess who has a life-long affiliation with Woomera through his wife's family who worked and lived there in the early 1960's, and who has also been involved in videoing and promoting Woomera for the SA Government over recent years....
This is a fun but emotional and wistful video cut to Ian's audio track which should delight all former Woomerites, whatever their involvement with Woomera, and where-ever they live today.
Both Ian and Russ hope that the thousands of former Woomerites enjoy this track - and relive their great memories of the community in which they lived - one of the most unique science, rocketry, satellite, defence and deep-space facilities on Earth.
